H.O.T. and Class Information
HOT Classes are one day only and
Building Construction and History are four hour classes
Fire Behavior - This is
a live fire class which will demonstrate live fire behavior.
Priority enrollment will be given to students who are able
to bring their own SCBA and spare bottle. There will be a
very limited number of loaner SCBA’s available for students
who supply a current fit test certificate from their
Department. PPE required: Full turnouts, eye and ear
protection and SCBA with mask. Lead Instructor: Capt.
John Tanaka.
Pump Operations - This
class will cover street level pump op’s for the savvy
Engineer. Topics will cover large flow rates and foam
systems including CAFS systems. PPE required: Full turnouts,
eye and ear protection. Lead Instructor:
Driver/Operator Chris Edmundson
Building Construction -
This class is geared toward modern light weight
construction, both residential and commercial, but will also
cover some traditional construction for contrast and
perspective. Lead Instructor: Lt. Todd Wernet
History and Tradition -
This class will cover the History and Tradition of the local
fire service, from historical landmarks like the Great
Seattle Fire up to present day. There will also be a display
of Antique Fire Apparatus from the local area.
Mayday - This class
will cover when to call a Mayday and self survival
techniques including bailouts, SCBA emergencies and self
extrication. PPE required: Full turnouts, eye and ear
protection. Lead Instructor: Chad Snyder
Forcible Entry - The
students will learn techniques for Forcible Entry including:
through the lock, circular saw work and the use of the
“Irons”. PPE required: Full turnouts, eye and ear
protection. Lead Instructor: Lt. Steve Reno.
Tactics for Incident
Commanders - This dynamic class will cover I.C.
tactics for anyone who finds themselves in the Command
position at an incident. Topics covered will include size
up, command and control, and the thought process necessary
to stay ahead of the incident. Lead Instructor: Chief
